Couple of things happened today have revealed a thing that Apple is trying to wrap up iPhone 3G. Walmart has announced today that it is reducing its price to $97 for iPhone 3G after a 2 year contract. There is no specific reason stated by Walmart for this reduction. We can assume that this may be due to the release of the iPhone 4G.

Next thing is from the Apple itself. Apple has removed the “Select” button which was found below the iPhone 8GB model. Now it says only the capacity, color and price. Usually Apple will remove the button for two reasons, one is due to out of stock and the other is to wrap up the product. If the removal is for the former then Apple will clearly say when it will be available again but this time no note on that. So it seems that Apple is also looking to wrap up things.

Let us wait till June 1st week which can show us a better picture.

$97 for an iPhone sounds like a good deal to me. But, after reading about the iPhone 4 greatness, I think people would be disappointed by the old model. At least, I would be. I recommend saving up and buying the iPhone 4 in all its glory.
