Microsoft (MSFT): iPad competitor is coming soon

Microsoft's Apple iPad competitor is "coming soon," with Windows 7 on Intel - Steve Ballmer. Financial analysts' meeting on 29th July, Steve Ballmer made his clear statement yet on the company's vision for tablet computing.

Microsoft has been in the tablet game for many years, but was never able to bring their product into the mainstream. Apple has done it in a matter of months. That is why Ballmer's comments during Microsoft's annual meeting with financial analysts are interesting and kind of fun to read.

The favorite quote from Ballmer:

"We've got everything on our side if we do things really right." - Ballmer

That's a big if, Ballmer. Microsoft got Windows 7 right, though (and it is selling like hotcakes) so I'm not going to count you guys out in the tablet market. But it seems like, by now, Apple will likely have a year's lead in the tablet marketplace.

Should we see a windows 7 tablet along with the windows phone 7 by the end of the year?
